The
art of Darrell Gilbert offers
diversity and a realism that touches
the soul. This is evident in all of
his work whether figurative,

His art has touched many lives in
Chicago, Illinois where he was born
and raised. He spans from

art expression to troubled youths on
Chicago's west side, to painted
murals depicting the strength of
black unity on Chicago's south side.
While living in Atlanta, Georgia,
Mr. Gilbert capitalized on the
opportunity to work with Dreamworks
SKG, where he designed a complete
collection of figurines created for
the animation, The Prince of Egypt.
This collection is currently being
sold as limited edition collectible
pieces. He also designed his own
line of collectible, limited

which depict positive reference to
African American culture for Coca -

Artist's
Statement
I
believe that art is a very important
part of the developing mind of a
child. It enables children to learn
and apply their feelings, while
producing something they feel proud
of. The growing child is easily
affected by their surroundings,
therefore the beauty and information
depicted in art, is a very
important, and useful tool in the
learning process. |
