Microform Collection

The microform collection is located in the northwest section of the Reference Department. Some, but not all of the materials on microforms are included in the online catalog. A list of microform holdings may be found in the microforms area. The collection contains periodicals, ERIC Documents, newspapers, some masters theses and doctoral dissertations.

The microform collection is indexed by both print and online databases. The New York Times Index and Resources in Education are print indexes which are located in the microforms area. Printed indexes such as Education Index, Humanities Index, Social Sciences Index, Reader's Guide to Periodical Literature are located near the periodicals section of the Reference Department. Online databases such as InfoTrac, OCLC FirstSearch, ERIC, and ABI Inform index materials which may be found in the microforms collection.

Reader Printers

Equipment for reading microforms is available for both microfiche and microfilm. There are two reader/printers in the Reference Department. These machines are able to handle both fiche and film. One additional reader/printer is designed to access microfilm cartridges from the Information Access Company (IAC) Business Collection.

Library faculty and staff personnel assist users in accessing and photocopying microform materials. Used microform is collected, counted, and refiled by staff or student assistants under the supervision of staff members.
