Reference Services

Additional Services

Photocopiers are located in the Reference Department for the benefit of library users. At the current time, the photocopying machines are based on a card system. Students with valid Tennessee State University Identification Cards may place money on their IDs for copying purposes. Otherwise, patrons may buy debit cards from dispenser machines in the Floyd-Payne Campus Center and other
designated locations.

Computer terminals and workstations for public use in the department vary in their applications. Some are stand-alone terminals for visual display only; others have individual dot-matrix printers attached; still others are linked to networked laser printers. Computers with Internet access located in Reference are not designated for word processing, but are for database and Internet searching only.

The Reference Department shares responsibility with the Academic Computing Center for the computer workstations in the computer laboratory on the third floor, which offer word processing capabilities as well as Internet access. While the faculty and staff have considerable expertise in computer technology, problems of a more technical nature are referred to our library computer specialist, Mrs. Colette Bradley, and/or the Communications and Information Technology Help Desk.
