The Thomas E. Poag Collection

Papers, 1909-1989

The Thomas E. Poag Collection consists of biographical data on Poag; general correspondence, accounts, bills & receipts, writings such as book reviews, dissertations and plays.

Box two contains material on plays by other person's, including actor/playwright Ellwoodson Williams. Box three contains speeches and classroom material from the Department of Speech and Drama. Box four includes more classroom material and programs from the Tennessee State Players Guild, box five consists of plays from the T.E. Poag Players Guild and newspaper clippings collected by and about Poag.

Box six consists of photographs of plays from the Tennessee State Players Guild. Box seven includes awards and printed matter including the periodical Encore from the National Association of Dramatic and Speech Arts. Box eight includes printed matter including the Report of the 1960 Northeast Command Tour.

Box nine includes memorabilia such as a Tennessee State Players Guild Flag. Box ten includes awards and photographs from productions of the Tennessee State Players Guild, including "The Tragedy of Martin L. King, Jr." with Oprah Winfrey portraying Mrs. Coretta Scott King. Box eleven consists of miscellaneous posters from the various plays.
