The art of  Darrell Gilbert offers diversity and a realism that touches the soul. This is evident in all of his work whether figurative, abstract, paintings or sculpture.

His art has touched many lives in Chicago, Illinois where he was born and raised.  He spans from teaching art appreciation through art expression to troubled youths on Chicago's west side, to painted murals depicting the strength of black unity on Chicago's south side.

While living in Atlanta, Georgia, Mr. Gilbert capitalized on the opportunity to work with Dreamworks SKG, where he designed a complete collection of figurines created for the animation, The Prince of Egypt. This collection is currently being sold as limited edition collectible pieces. He also designed his own line of collectible, limited edition, figurines (Ebony Memories), which depict positive reference to African American culture for Coca - Cola and Cavanagh Group International

Some of the many collector's of Mr. Gilbert's work include: Tom Joyner of the Tom Joyner Morning Show, designer Jacqueline McCoy, Bishop Joseph Walker (Mount Zion Church), Dr. Kelli Mollette, Angie Winans of the Winans family, Eddie George, Randall Godfrey, Jevon Kearse, Robert Holcombe and Dainon Sidney all of the Tennessee Titans, and Howard Griffith of the Denver Broncos.

Artist's Statement

I believe that art is a very important part of the developing mind of a child. It enables children to learn and apply their feelings, while producing something they feel proud of. The growing child is easily affected by their surroundings, therefore the beauty and information depicted in art, is a very important, and useful tool in the learning process.
